It's that time again!

Remaining websites are being migrated to a temporary server this week.

When those migrations are done, the current server will be shut down and shipped to me for service before being installed in a new facility. This process should be completed by the end of February 2018.

All mail service should already have been migrated off the main server; if not, if mail is still being forwarded or imported, then mail service will be interrupted by the close of business on Friday, February 16 and may not be restored until as late as Friday, February 23. Please plan accordingly. If you are not sure if mail is still being routed through synfibers.com / synfibers.net or a domain hosted at cloud.synfibers.com, please contact me at dmjossel@gmail.com.

This migration will mark the end of support for websites hosted using version 6 of Drupal or earlier, as well as for sites using PHP 5.x, as the new minimum version of PHP will be 7.2.

This coming spring all synfibers.com clients will be moved to a new server. For most users this will mean increases in mailbox as well as an updated webmail interface.

UPDATE: This migration is now complete. The old server will be kept until the end of June 2014. Please advise before then if you have problems or any missing files or messages.

Usernames and passwords are not changing and do not need to be reconfigured.

In preparation for this move, and to make sure there is no interruption of service, please check all mail account configurations and make the following changes:

1) CHANGE HOSTNAME to CLOUD.SYNFIBERS.com
Any references to the following HOST NAMES (not EMAIL ADDRESSES) in your mail client configuration:
synthet3.securesites.com
OR
synthet3.securesites.net
OR
anyname.yourdomain.com

MUST BE CHANGED TO:
cloud.synfibers.com

2) SSL MUST BE TURNED OFF TEMPORARILY.
Until now all mail clients were using a shared certificate provided by the current host. Once the new server is in place, SSL can be turned back on. I will notify all users when this is ready.

3) NEW WEBMAIL
Users who previously accessed webmail using the TWIG system at twig.synfibers.com or yourdomainname.com/twig will need to access it from one of the following new addresses:
synfibers.com/roundcube
yourdomainname.com/roundcube
Once the server migration is completed and SSL is reactivated, this new webmail system will also be online.

The migration to the new server is complete. All accounts on all domains should function properly and all pre-existing mail archives have been preserved.

If you are still not receiving mail or are missing any old files please email me immediately at dmjossel@synfibers.com. As a last resort you may use the IP address 168.143.35.204 as your incoming (POP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers. If you have SSL activated you may see an error message that the certificate is unsigned. If you ignore it mail should function properly. Within a day or two you should be able to revert to using your own domain or the shared domain synthet3.securesites.net (for SSL support) on the new server.

This migration also brings a new option for webmail; an AJAX-powered interface that is a bit more advanced than the TWIG interface for handling mail. You can access it at:

The login screen gives you options for Advanced (supported in Internet Explorer and Firefox, mimics the layout and features of Outlook Express in a web interface) or Standard Ajax (for other modern browsers) or Simple (for old browsers and/or mobile devices).

In most cases the old TWIG interface, should you want it, is still available at:

https://your-domain.com/twig/
